Bare Minerals
My older sister has been telling me for months to try Bare
Minerals makeup. She has always had really sensitive skin
so she never really was able to wear much makeup because all the
preservatives and chemicals would cause her to break out or get
a rash.
But since she discovered Bare Minerals she wears it all
the time and can’t stop talking about how great it is. I
had seen the ads for it but was a little hesitant to try it because
I wasn’t convinced it would cover as well as my traditional
foundation. However, since seeing how great my sister’s
skin looks I decided I had to try it out.
Bare Minerals is a little pricier than some of the other mineral
makeups out there (about $18 each) but I definitely think it’s
worth a try. When I first used it, it took a little practice to
get it down how to apply the foundation. My sister had to actually
show me how she does it.
I really liked how light it felt and
was shocked that I didn’t really need to put much on to
completely blend it over my skin. Although the coverage didn’t
last the entire day, from morning to night, it did last until
the mid-afternoon. But I really don’t think any makeup lasts
all day long.
I also really like that it has SPF 15 in it, and it’s especially
great because most sunscreens tend to clog my pores and this doesn’t
at all. I can actually fall asleep with it on and not wake up
with that cakey feeling and also know I’m not going to break
out because of it.
That has been a major selling point for me
because I do sometimes fall asleep and forget to wash my face,
and before I used Bare Minerals I would break out every time I
fell asleep with makeup on. It’s definitely nice to not
have to worry about that anymore.
The only thing about it I didn’t like was that the powder
gets all over the place when you put it on. Because it’s
such a light powder, it kind of gets everywhere so you have to
be careful and I usually put it on before I get dressed so it
doesn’t fall onto my clothes.
Sheer Cover
Sheer Cover is an all mineral-based makeup that claims is actually
good for your skin. I recently tried Sheer
Cover and I really loved it. The introductory package comes
with a ton of stuff for only 29.95 so you get to try out all their
products. It comes with the foundation in two shades, a duo concealer,
moisturizer, cleanser, powder brush, travel brush, one concealer
brush, one blush brush, mascara, sheer color compact.
First, I did like the coverage it provided. It covered any and
all sunspots and imperfections and gave my skin a really natural
looking finish. And, the mica that is in the foundation gave my
skin a natural looking glow. The foundation also has Green Roobis
Tea in it, which is an anti-oxidant that is supposed to help prevent
future damage. I really like that it has the Roobis Tea in it
because since I’m starting to notice some wrinkles on my
skin now, I’m interested in doing what I can to prevent
any future signs of aging.
I got a lot of compliments from friends and family on how flawless
my skin looked. I’ve tried other brands of mineral makeup
and it covered about the same as them, but this one was a little
heavier feeling. Although, I also noticed that it lasted a little
longer.
I also have really sensitive eyes and they tend to water
every time I put on eye makeup, so I was really impressed that
their eye makeup did not cause my eyes to water at all! I’m
definitely hooked on that and the foundation; however, I don’t
use the cleanser or moisturizer since they dried my skin out a
little. All in all I will definitely keep using the makeup since
it provides great coverage and I don’t have to worry about
putting a bunch of chemicals on my face.
Pure Minerals
I
recently tried Pur Minerals foundation.
I have tried many other mineral makeup brands and while I did
like their coverage, the loose powder versions were a little messy
and not easily portable. So when I heard about Pur Minerals I
had to try it. Pur Minerals is a pressed powder so it’s
way less messy when you apply it and you can take it with you
and do touch ups almost anywhere. They use Shea Butter and Vitamin
E as binders so that it stays pressed and is also great for your
skin.
I was really impressed by the coverage which is fabulous and it
takes less time for me to apply it than using a powder brush with
loose powder. It gives my skin an even and really natural looking
cover, and you can’t even tell I’m wearing makeup
at all!
It comes in a little compact like traditional powders, but is
100% natural, made of ground up minerals. While it is long lasting,
I still need a touch up in the afternoon. That’s why the
compact is great and it comes with a sponge in it, so you don’t
have to carry the separate applicator brush around. I absolutely
loved this product, since using it my skin really has improved,
it feel more hydrated and just looks good! They also have a bunch
of other mineral cosmetics too like eye makeup and blushes that
I can’t wait to try out.
Simple Karen
I
recently tried out Simply Karen Mineral Makeup and was pleasantly surprised by how much I like
it. I have tried many other mineral foundations before and found
more pros than cons with this product. Simply Karen comes in a
loose powder foundation and they have a very wide variety of colors,
28 shades to be exact, while many other brands such as Bare Minerals
and Sheer Cover only have about half that.
It covers up exceptionally
well and gives your face a nice matte finish, and it also has
no Bismuth in it which has been said to cause irritation for some,
although I never personally experienced any. The only thing I
didn’t really like about it was the fact that it comes as
a loose powder.
I really prefer pressed powders because they create
less mess and are easy to use for quick touch ups anywhere. However,
the coverage was really fantastic and I really like that there
isn’t any mandatory club to join to buy the product like
there is with Sheer Cover. I definitely recommend this product
to anyone who has experienced any irritation from other mineral
foundation, and they also have an entire line of mineral cosmetics
as well.
Naked Minerals
Naked
Minerals is a newer mineral makeup line that comes in a compressed
powder form. Although I really like that it comes in a compact
version since it creates way less mess than other loose powder
minerals, I found Naked Minerals a little disappointing. It is somewhat pricey compared to other
brands because you can’t just buy one foundation, you have
buy a whole “collection” of cosmetics that you may
or may not want or use and you end up paying at least $130.00.
However, once I tried it out I found that the foundation does
live up to its claims of providing a light and “polished”
look, once I figured out how to apply it (you have really brush
it on your face using some pressure for it to look right). It
comes in four shades and each compact is divided into two tones:
a “warm” and a “cool”.
So, I had to try
and even blend the two together on the brush and match the right
mixture of color for my skin. I thought that was kind of a pain,
it would be easier if they just offered more shades that you don’t
have to personally mix. In the end I might just keep the foundation
in my purse for emergency touch ups and stick to my old makeup.
