Bowflex
Xtreme 2: The Arnold Schwarzenegger of Home Gyms
(July 5, 2006)
The
majority of the people thinking about the purchase of a home
gym do so because of their time commitments and schedules
won’t allow them to belong to a gym. The beauty of the
home gym is that you can work out in the privacy of your own
home whenever you schedule allows you to. The downside is
of course that few home gyms offer the same work out that
you could get at a gym fully-stocked with all the latest equipment.
As always, TVTopTen.com has a recommendation: the Bowflex
Xtreme 2.
By
now, just about everyone with a TV is familiar with the Bowflex
home gym system. After running TV ads for over ten years,
Bowflex is one of the most recognizable names in the fitness
industry. The reason for the continual success of the Bowflex
is due in large part to its unique design. Unlike weight stack
machines that you see in gyms, Bowflex uses composite rods
of varying thickness that provide resistance when you pull
them in various ways. Bowflex Xtreme offers 70 different exercises
and has 210 pounds of resistance that can be upgraded to 410
pounds with add-ons. It provides a variety of upper and lower
body exercises that rival most regular gym work outs. Bowflex
Xtreme has a vertical bench where almost all exercises can
be done from this sitting position. The vertical bench provides
more comfort and it also takes up less space then the horizontal
bench.
Bowflex
Xtreme has exercises for virtually every muscle, so just about
anyone can build the physique they want if they are committed
to exercising three times a week for 20 minutes. The Bowflex
owner’s manual has simple and easy to follow fitness
guide that can help you with each exercise. Beginners would
do well to follow the instructions in this guide so they don’t
hurt themselves. And, as usual, working out on the Bowflex
will show results faster when you eat right. Bowflex provides
you with a nutrition guide to help you eat a diet that is
most helpful for your particular workout regimen.
On
the quality end of things, the machine is well built and solid
because of its reinforced based that provides more stability
when working out. The ‘X’ is Xtreme is supposedly
inspired by the X shaped base of the unit. Like Bowflex claims,
this design makes the unit very stable. Bowflex Xtreme comes
with a seven-year limited warranty on materials and workmanship.
The power rods come with a lifetime warranty and overall,
Bowflex has one of the best warranties you can find in a home
gym.
With
the Bowflex Xtreme you only need a seven by six foot space
for you to be able to do your entire work out. However, take
into consideration of where you are going to store your Bowflex.
You should store it near the area you are going to use it.
Chances are that you will be less likely to use if it is difficult
to take out and put away.
Bowflex
Xtreme offers a complete work out where there is no need to
change cables between work outs, has a seven-year warranty
and allows you to customize the resistance to match the work
out you desire. It’s little wonder why Bowflex is the
most widely used home gym in the world, even after more than
ten years on TV.
